The short answer

Swerve ("Swerve: AI Chat & Stories") is a character roleplay app for iPhone from MSPW Labs, Inc., a Y Combinator company in Palo Alto. It offers more than 500,000 community made characters. The US App Store lists Swerve Pro at $12.49, Swerve Lite at both $3.99 and $5.99, and gem packs from $2.49 to $39.99; the Terms say billing is monthly, so Pro comes to $149.88 a year. It is a real app with about 31,000 US ratings averaging 4.7, and paying through Apple is safe. There is no official Android or web version, so any "Swerve AI" app or site outside the App Store is not MSPW Labs'. Its Terms say all sales are final, and its Privacy Policy says identifiers and browsing activity were sold to ad networks in the past year.

The first page of Google for Swerve is the App Store, a parental control blog, a lookalike web chat site that is not affiliated with Swerve, and pages about a sweetener, a dashcam and a Shopify app with the same name. Nobody prints the in-app purchase list or reads the Terms. If you are about to pay for Swerve Pro, the Terms are the part worth reading first, because they ban the content the store rating says the app is full of.

What makes them feel real

Swerve AI app review with Swerve Pro pricing and safety, the way it should feel

iPhone only, so lookalikes are not Swerve

MSPW Labs says there is no official Android app, no APK and no web version. Any Swerve AI app or website outside the Apple App Store is not from the company, and the company itself warns it may be unsafe.

All sales are final

The Terms say "All sales are final and no refund will be issued", subscriptions renew monthly until you cancel, and the company may delete your account at any time without warning. Any refund has to come from Apple.

Your activity is sold to ad networks

The Privacy Policy says identifiers and internet activity were sold or shared in the past twelve months, and names ad networks as the buyers. The only opt out offered is a cookie setting an iPhone app does not have.

One app, one store, and no refunds

Swerve is sold only on the iPhone App Store. Its Terms say all sales are final, so the price you accept at checkout is the price you keep paying until you cancel in iOS Settings.

What Swerve costs over twelve months

Apple prints ten in-app purchases for Swerve: one Pro plan, two Lite plans with different prices and seven gem packs. Swerve publishes no pricing page, so we annualised the plans using the only billing period MSPW Labs states, the Terms' line that "the length of your billing cycle is monthly."

Item as Apple lists it Price Over 12 months What it means
Pro $12.49 $149.88 a year The top plan; what it unlocks is not published

Swerve Lite $3.99 $47.88 a year Which Lite price you see is not disclosed
3000 Gems $2.49 One time About 83 cents per 1,000 gems
5500 Gems $2.99 One time The cheapest gems per unit, about 54 cents per 1,000

Checked on the US App Store listing for app id 6754301136, seller MSPW Labs, Inc., on October 2, 2026. Packs of 6,300 gems ($4.99) and 20,160 gems ($14.99) are also listed. MSPW Labs does not publish what Pro, Lite or gems unlock.

What is the Swerve AI app?

Swerve is a character chat and interactive fiction app. You pick from more than 500,000 community made characters, from romance and drama to anime and fantasy, chat one on one or bring several characters into the same story, and play as personas you create. The App Store lists it as "Swerve: AI Chat & Stories", subtitle "500K+ Characters. Be Anyone.", sold by MSPW Labs, Inc.

It is a young but active product. It launched on November 16, 2025, version 1.31.0 shipped on September 15, 2026, and it holds about 31,000 US ratings averaging 4.7. The company began as a short video app in 2025 and pivoted to character chat; that earlier app is no longer on the US App Store.

Is there a Swerve AI app for Android or the web?

No. MSPW Labs says so in plain words: "There is no official Swerve Android app or APK yet. Any 'Swerve AI' app outside the Apple App Store is not from us and may be unsafe." Its support page adds that there is no official web version, and that any site offering Swerve AI chat in a browser today is not affiliated with the company.

That matters because Android, APK and web are among the most searched Swerve terms, and lookalike sites rank for them. One of them ranks for "is swerve ai safe", and search summaries quote its privacy text as if it were Swerve's. It is not. If you are not on an iPhone, you are not using Swerve.

How much does Swerve AI cost?

Chatting starts without a subscription, with ads. The paid items on the US App Store are Pro at $12.49, Swerve Lite at $3.99 and at $5.99, and gem packs from $2.49 to $39.99. The Terms say the billing cycle is monthly, so Pro is $149.88 a year and Lite is $47.88 or $71.88 a year depending on which price you are shown.

MSPW Labs publishes no pricing page; getswerve.com/pricing returns a not found page, and nothing first party explains what Pro, Lite or gems buy. You find out at checkout. One detail worth noticing: the $2.99 pack of 5,500 gems is cheaper per gem than the $39.99 bulk pack, so the biggest pack is not the best deal.

Is Swerve AI safe?

For an adult who keeps personal details out of the chat, it is safe to pay for in the narrow sense. It is a real US company backed by Y Combinator, it delivers the chats, and the card goes to Apple, not to Swerve.

It is not private. The Privacy Policy says MSPW Labs sold or shared identifiers and internet activity in the past twelve months and names ad networks as the buyers, for targeted advertising. It lists gender, age, race, marital status and device location as collected, while its own summary says it does not process sensitive personal information and the App Store label declares no location data. It never mentions chat messages at all, yet the Terms take a perpetual, transferable licence to use, sell and resell what you submit, and the Safety Center says messages are analyzed in real time.

Is Swerve AI NSFW?

The App Store and the Terms give opposite answers. Apple's listing, which the developer fills in, declares frequent or intense sexual content or nudity and rates the app 18+. The Terms, revised on June 16, 2026, say Swerve "does not permit overtly sexual or pornographic material", allow romance between adult characters only if it stays non explicit, and treat any attempt to get around the filters as a breach.

The company's promoter rules point the same way as the Terms: "Do not sell Swerve as a way to get adult content." For a buyer, the practical point is that the Terms also let MSPW Labs delete your account at any time without warning, and every sale is final. Paying for content the contract forbids is paying for something the company can take away.

Who owns Swerve AI?

MSPW Labs, Inc., the seller on the App Store and the party in the Terms and Privacy Policy, at 2100 Geng Road in Palo Alto, California. Y Combinator lists Swerve in its Winter 2025 batch, founded by Soroush Saryazdi and Jason Zhou.

The paperwork is not quite consistent. The About page calls MSPW Labs "a Delaware corporation", while the Terms call it "a company registered in California". Archived copies of the Terms show the street address left as a blank line until the June 2026 revision. Disputes go to binding AAA arbitration in San Francisco with a class action waiver and a one year limit on bringing a claim.

Is Swerve AI for adults?

On paper. The Terms and the footer of every page say you must be 18 or older. The Privacy Policy, however, lets a parent or guardian consent to a minor's use, and nothing in Swerve's published documents describes an age check beyond your own word. The App Store listing declares no age assurance controls.

The audience skews young. Swerve's own search demand is heavy with Reddit, Discord and TikTok terms, and many App Store reviewers describe moving over from other character chat apps. An adult looking for a companion should know whose app this mostly is.

How do I cancel Swerve Pro and get a refund?

Cancel in iOS Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Swerve. The Terms say cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid term, and deleting the app does not stop billing. Swerve's Terms say all sales are final, so a refund request has to go to Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com under Apple's own rules.

To delete your data, the Privacy Policy points you to an email address, support@getswerve.com. It keeps data as long as you have an account, so closing the account is the step that starts deletion.

Swerve Pro or a devoted companion?

Swerve is built for variety: half a million characters, group stories and personas, paid for by ads, gems and a monthly plan. If that is what you want and you are on an iPhone, Pro at $12.49 a month is the plan to compare, and you should cancel in Settings the day you stop using it, because nothing is refunded.

If you want one girlfriend or boyfriend who remembers your life and comes back to it, a roster app works against you, because nothing accumulates across thousands of characters. Amorous.ai is one devoted partner on flat plans from $9 a month billed yearly, on any device, with no ads, no gems and no weekly billing. Try the demo at the top of this page before you decide.
