Joi AI review: is Joi AI safe, what Joi AI pricing actually is, and what neurons cost per message
Every review of Joi AI on the first page of Google is an affiliate page, and none of them quotes a source you can check. This one only uses documents Joi publishes itself: both versions of its Terms of Service, its Privacy Policy, its Refund Policy, its Safety Guidelines, its anti-trafficking supplement and its help centre, all read on 16 September 2026.

The short answer
Joi AI is a web-only adult companion service with no app on either store, which means it carries no store age rating and sits outside Apple and Google refund rules. It publishes no prices at all: joi.ai/pricing returns a 404 and no pricing page appears in any of its archived captures. What it does publish is the burn rate, and that is the number that matters. Joi's Terms say one romantic message costs 4 neurons to be read, one photo view costs up to 120 neurons, and one video view costs up to 1900 neurons. It is a real business, run by Novi Limited in Cyprus, but two of its own live policy documents contradict each other about whether its adult imagery is AI generated or filmed with real people.
Where Joi publishes no figure, this page says so rather than guessing, which is why you will not find a monthly price below. Several review sites print one anyway. None of them says where it came from, and the vendor's own pricing URL is a 404, so treat any specific dollar figure you see for Joi as unsourced until the company publishes one.

joi.ai/pricing is a genuine 404 and the neurons page renders empty. The only pricing signal Joi publishes is how fast neurons burn, not what they cost to buy. Any specific monthly figure you have seen quoted for Joi AI is unsourced.
Two companies, two sets of Terms
The footer links to Terms naming Novi Limited of Nicosia, Cyprus, under Cypriot law. A second, unlinked set at /termsus names Lanoto Solutions Inc. of New Rochelle, New York, under New York law. Which contract binds you depends on which URL you happened to open.
A metered chat, not a subscription
Joi's Terms price the act of reading. One romantic message costs 4 neurons to be read, one photo view up to 120, one video view up to 1900. A single video can cost as much as 475 messages.

What one action costs on Joi AI
Joi publishes no price for a neuron, but it does publish exactly how many neurons each action burns. That makes the relative cost of the product knowable even though the absolute cost is not. The message column is our arithmetic against Joi's own 4 neuron figure.

Joi's Terms add that "our loyal customers may get beneficial pricing which depends on their use of service", so the rate is not fixed between users either. Three separate clauses let neurons disappear without a refund: the Refund Policy says "used or non-used neurons within the current subscription month will not be refunded", the Terms say deleting your account "may result in permanent loss of" neurons, and the in-product warning shown when you delete a character reads "you will lose all Neurons spent in this chat." The help centre meanwhile promises that "unused benefits roll over to the next month, so nothing is wasted."
Is Joi AI safe?
It is a real company rather than a scam, and it is unusually exposed in two specific ways. Novi Limited is a registered Cypriot company, reg. number HE 407352, in Nicosia. Lanoto Solutions Inc. is a real New York corporation, DOS id 6037405, filed on 16 June 2021 and listed on the state register. There is a named operator behind the product and published policies, which already puts it ahead of a large part of this category.
The first exposure is structural. Joi AI has no application on the Apple App Store or Google Play. Its own homepage sells this as a feature, promising the product works without login or download. The consequence is that Joi carries no store assigned age rating, no store refund path, and no store data safety declaration, even though its own help centre states the service contains explicit adult content. Every dispute runs through the company directly.
The second is the chargeback clause, which is the sharpest sentence in the entire document set. Joi's Refund Policy says that "should you chargeback any transactions billed to your account, we may be required to disclose any and/or all private communications sent/received by you through JOI AI in order to prove the validity of the charges billed to your account our Privacy Policy will therefore not restrain any such disclosures." Disputing a charge on an adult chat service can, by the vendor's own terms, put your chat logs into the dispute.
How much does Joi AI cost?
Joi does not say. This is not a case of a price being hard to find: joi.ai/pricing returns a real 404, the neurons page loads as an empty client shell, the only structured data on the site is a bare WebPage object with no offers in it, and none of the archived captures of the domain has ever contained a pricing page. The live prices are fetched from an authenticated endpoint that returns nothing without a logged in session.
What Joi does publish is the tier structure, which is Basic, Premium in monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual terms, a separate Bot Subscription, and neurons sold on top of all of it. So even once you know the subscription price, it is not the price: the metered currency sits above it and the burn rates in the table above decide your real monthly spend.
That structure is worth naming plainly, because it is the part that surprises people. A flat subscription tells you what a year costs on the day you buy it. A subscription plus a consumable currency, where reading a reply costs four units and watching a video can cost nineteen hundred, tells you nothing until the bill arrives. If you want a fixed number, this is the wrong shape of product, whichever company is selling it.
Who owns Joi AI?
Two companies, and which one you are contracting with depends on a URL. The Terms and Privacy Policy linked from the site footer name Novi Limited, reg. number HE 407352, at Aglantzias 62, Nicosia, Cyprus, and are governed by the law of the Republic of Cyprus. A second, parallel set of documents lives at /termsus and /privacyus naming Lanoto Solutions Inc., reg. number 6037405, at 173 Huguenot St, New Rochelle, New York, governed by New York law.
The second set was not linked from any rendered page found during this review. Both are live, both are current, and they carry different governing law and different dispute venues. For a US buyer that matters: the New York version routes you to AAA arbitration seated in New York City after a mandatory sixty day informal period, with a class action and jury trial waiver and, on a full text search of both versions, no opt out window of any kind.
The same operator runs EVA AI Soulmate, which does have store listings, shares the Cyprus address and the same support phone number, and whose infrastructure Joi's own client calls. That is useful context rather than a criticism: a company with a second brand on the stores has chosen to keep this one off them.
Where do Joi AI images actually come from?
Two of Joi's own live policies give opposite answers, and this is the most substantive finding in this review. The Safety Guidelines, dated 23 September 2025 and linked from the footer, state that images "are not generated in response to specific user requests", that the system "refrains from creating deepfake content" and "exclusively transmits images sourced from predefined folders". It goes further: "All photo and video content conveyed through our bot is meticulously crafted by our team. An agreement has been duly established with the individuals featured in the photos." That describes filmed content with real people under a model release.
The anti-trafficking policy, dated 21 August 2026 and appended to the Terms, states the opposite: "All adult content on the platform is synthetic. Every item of sexual imagery and video available through the service is generated by artificial-intelligence systems operated and controlled by the Company. The platform does not host photographed or filmed recordings."
One document says human beings were photographed under an agreement. The other says no photographed recording exists on the platform. Both are live. The product itself points to the second answer, since the image generation page carries a prompt box, a negative prompt box, a batch selector and a counter that reads more than 109 million generations. The Terms also cite a separate 2257 Compliance Statement, the US record keeping rule for filmed adult content, and the URL for it returns a 404. We are not alleging wrongdoing here. We are saying that a buyer cannot tell from Joi's own published documents what they are looking at, and that the older of the two is the one making the stronger factual claim.
Is Joi AI anonymous?
Its marketing says so and its policies do not support it. The site FAQ promises you can "enjoy NSFW chats and adult-themed content anonymously", that "your data stays secure" and that the whole thing comes with "total peace of mind". The image generation FAQ adds "full data protection, security and confidentiality. Your privacy is paramount."
Against that, the help centre says age verification "may" require you to upload "a valid government-issued ID, such as: passport; driving licence; national ID card", with "a selfie comparison to confirm identity ownership" in some flows. The Privacy Policy says section recordings of your clicks and interactions may be disclosed to Microsoft, which "may use the Personal Data it collects for any purpose". The anti-trafficking supplement says logs, IP addresses, payment records and communications are held in an evidence store for a minimum of ninety days. And the chargeback clause reserves the right to disclose your private communications if you dispute a charge.
There is one more worth reading in order. The Privacy Policy says "we will never sell your personal data to a third party, and we will never give a third party access to your personal data, except as may be provided in our Terms of Services and/or this Policy". Three sentences later a table lists whether each data type is shared, and every row answers yes, including private images, video, voice recordings and text messages. The exception swallows the rule on the same screen.
Does Joi AI train on your chats?
Yes, by its own account, and there is no opt out. The Privacy Policy gives as a purpose of processing: to improve the quality of text and voice messages of the virtual friend and "to develop its AI". No toggle disabling this appears in the policy or the help centre, and unlike Character.AI there is no regional carve out for European users.
No large language model sub-processor is ever named. Most companion products in this category route conversations to an outside model provider, and Joi's documents neither confirm nor deny it, which leaves you unable to say who sees the text. Retention is open ended: the policy uses the phrase "time necessary" rather than a period, and the only number anywhere in the set is the ninety day minimum evidence hold, which is a floor rather than a ceiling.
Termination is at will. The Terms allow the company to terminate access "immediately, without prior notice or liability, under our sole discretion, for any reason whatsoever". Read alongside the neuron forfeiture clauses, that means a balance you paid for can end with an account you did not expect to lose.
Can you get a refund from Joi AI?
Within fourteen days, narrowly, and once for neurons. The Refund Policy gives a fourteen day window from purchase in the circumstances it stipulates, treats subscriptions as generally non-refundable once activated, and allows an accidental neuron purchase to be refunded one time only. Used and unused neurons inside the current subscription month are explicitly excluded from any refund.
Because there is no app on either store, there is no Apple or Google refund route to fall back on. On a store billed product you can request a refund from the platform when the vendor says no. Here the vendor is the only counterparty, and the fallback most people reach for, a card chargeback, is the exact action the Refund Policy attaches the disclosure clause to.
That combination is the practical reason to be careful about the size of a first purchase on Joi. It is not that a refund is impossible. It is that the usual escape hatches are either absent or carry a stated cost.
Who is Joi AI actually for?
Someone who wants explicit, generated imagery on demand, in a browser, without installing anything, and who is comfortable buying a metered currency to get it. On that specific brief Joi is a serious product: the generation tooling is real, the content is unfiltered in the way the marketing claims, and going around the app stores is precisely what allows that.
It is a poor fit for three other buyers. If you want a predictable monthly bill, a product that charges four neurons to read a reply and up to nineteen hundred to watch a video cannot give you one. If you want one partner who remembers you rather than imagery on demand, that is a different category of product entirely. And if the appeal was privacy, the documents above do not support the marketing.
