Is PolyBuzz Safe? Age Checks, NSFW Policy and Data

PolyBuzz is safe enough for a US adult in the narrow sense that matters most: it asks you for no ID, it encrypts data in transit, and it lets you delete your account. The risks sit elsewhere. PolyBuzz tells Google it shares your approximate and precise location with other companies for advertising and marketing, it tells Apple its content includes Frequent/Intense Sexual Content or Nudity plus Unrestricted Web Access, and the only thing standing between a 14 year old and all of that is a birthdate box nobody checks.

Most pages answering this question are written for worried parents and stop at "there is adult content." That is true but incomplete. Everything below comes from PolyBuzz's own Terms of Use dated 1 June 2026, its own privacy policy, its own Apple App Store disclosures and its own Google Play data safety declaration, all verified on 2 September 2026. Those are the four places a company has to tell the truth, and they do not always agree with the marketing.

Is PolyBuzz safe to use?

For an adult, mostly yes, with one disclosure that deserves more attention than it gets. PolyBuzz encrypts data in transit, provides a working account deletion path, and does not require you to hand over identity documents in the United States. Google Play confirms both the encryption and the deletion route as developer declared security practices.

The caveat is location. In its Google Play data safety declaration, PolyBuzz states that it may share two data types with other companies or organizations: approximate location and precise location. The stated purpose for both is advertising or marketing. That is a meaningfully different privacy posture from a companion app that shares nothing, and it is the single fact a privacy conscious buyer should weigh before installing. If that kind of exposure bothers you, the broader problem is that location and identity data ends up circulating among data brokers long after you stop using an app, and it takes deliberate effort to get your personal details pulled back out of the brokers holding them.

Does PolyBuzz require age verification?

Only in the United Kingdom. PolyBuzz's Terms of Use contain a section headed "Mandatory Age Verification in United Kingdom (UK)" which states that to comply with the UK Online Safety Act it requires users to complete age verification before accessing PolyBuzz, carried out by independent third party providers Ondato and Yoti. No equivalent requirement exists for the United States.

Everywhere else, including the US, the entire age control is a date of birth field. The Terms say that when you first use PolyBuzz, whether as a guest or intending to register, you must enter your date of birth, and that by doing so you confirm the information is accurate and truthful. There is no document check, no facial estimation and no cross reference. Does PolyBuzz allow NSFW content?

By its own declaration to Apple, yes, extensively. PolyBuzz's App Store listing carries a 17+ rating with advisories including Frequent/Intense Sexual Content or Nudity, Frequent/Intense Mature/Suggestive Themes and Unrestricted Web Access. Those are PolyBuzz's own words to Apple, not a reviewer's opinion, which makes them the most reliable answer available.

The comparison is what makes that number mean something. Every major app in this category carries a 17+ rating, so the rating alone tells you nothing. The advisories underneath it tell you a great deal, because each developer chooses them and Apple holds them to it.

Two things stand out. PolyBuzz is the only app in that group that also declares Unrestricted Web Access, meaning content can reach the user from the open web rather than only from the model. And PolyBuzz combines the heaviest sexual content disclosure with by far the largest audience of any app making that disclosure: Candy AI declares the same category but has roughly one three hundredth of the ratings volume. What data does PolyBuzz collect and share?

PolyBuzz's Google Play data safety declaration lists two data types it may share with other companies and eight categories it may collect. The sharing list is short and specific, and it is the part worth reading twice.

Most of that list is unremarkable for a modern app. Purchase history, crash logs and device identifiers appear in almost every declaration in this category. The two lines that separate PolyBuzz from its peers are precise location shared for advertising, and the privacy policy's note that photos you upload may be used to train the AI algorithm. PolyBuzz's declared security practices are that data is encrypted in transit and that you can request data be deleted. Both are real and both are worth having. Neither addresses what happens to location data once it has already been shared with an advertising partner, which is a one way door. Does PolyBuzz save your chats?

Yes. Chats are stored server side under your account, which is what makes conversation history work at all. PolyBuzz's privacy policy describes collecting and storing user information and includes a retention section, and account deletion is available in the app under Setting, Account, Delete.

The qualifier is in the deletion clause itself. The policy states that unless otherwise required by applicable laws, PolyBuzz may not delete certain user information from its backups, and that withdrawal of consent does not affect information already collected on prior consent unless it is deleted. Read plainly, deletion removes your account and your access, and some data persists in backup systems afterward. That is a standard arrangement and PolyBuzz is being honest about it, but it is not the same as erasure.

Who runs PolyBuzz?

Two different companies, depending on which document you read. Apple lists the iOS app as sold by CLOUD WHALE INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGY LLC. PolyBuzz's own Terms of Use state that the website PolyBuzz.ai is operated by Singularity Mutual Entertainment Culture Media Limited in Hong Kong, supported by affiliated companies.

Neither of those is a red flag on its own, and split corporate structures are ordinary in app publishing. It matters for one practical reason: it determines whose jurisdiction governs your chat logs, and the answer is not the one most American users would assume from an app that presents entirely in US English with US pricing. If cross border data handling is part of your decision, that is the detail to weigh, and it is the sort of thing worth knowing before rather than after you have a year of conversation history stored.

Is PolyBuzz safe for kids?

No, and PolyBuzz says so itself in unusually direct language. Its Terms of Use state that you must have reached 18 years old to use PolyBuzz and that the service is strictly prohibited for minors under 18 worldwide. The privacy policy repeats it: the services are not designed for minors, and if PolyBuzz discovers or reasonably believes an individual under 18 has accessed the service it will immediately deny the services and suspend the account.

The gap between that policy and reality is the enforcement mechanism. Outside the UK there is none beyond a self reported birthdate, and the Terms acknowledge that a guest user cannot even correct an incorrectly entered birthdate without registering first. An app declaring Frequent/Intense Sexual Content or Nudity and Unrestricted Web Access, protected by a form field, is not a meaningful barrier. Parents looking for controls will not find any inside PolyBuzz; the practical options are device level restrictions and Apple's own Screen Time content limits.

Is paying for PolyBuzz safe?

The billing is handled by Apple and Google, so your card details never touch PolyBuzz, which is the safest part of the arrangement. The terms attached to those payments are less generous than most people expect, and there are three clauses worth knowing before you buy.

First, subscriptions auto renew. The Terms state that a plan for the premium services will be automatically renewed unless it is cancelled on or before the last day of the subscription period, and that billing continues on each periodic renewal until cancellation. Second, prices can move without warning: the Terms say all rates are subject to changes with or without expressive notice. Third, refunds are restricted. Users are not entitled to any refund for a completed purchase without due reason, and the Terms specifically state that no refund request will be accepted on the ground of a child user's purchase or payment by mistake or accident.

That last clause matters because PolyBuzz sells consumable currencies alongside its subscriptions, and consumables are exactly what an unsupervised child spends money on. Is PolyBuzz legit?

Yes, in the sense that matters: it is a real, actively maintained product from an identifiable publisher, not a scam. Apple shows 469,068 ratings at an average of 4.4 stars, continuous shipping since 23 May 2023 and a last update on 31 August 2026. Products that are not legitimate do not sustain that.

Legitimate and suitable are different questions though. PolyBuzz is a character library optimized for breadth: millions of characters, heavy adult content, ad supported, monetized through tiers and consumables. If what you want is one companion who remembers your history rather than an endless catalogue to browse, that model works against you, and the location sharing and content disclosures are a real cost attached to a product built for a different purpose. Deciding which of those two things you actually want is the whole decision, and it is worth making before you spend anything.
