Is Botify AI Safe? What Ex-Human Sells, Shares and Charges
Botify is a real app from Ex-Human, Inc. of Boulder, Colorado. Its checkout says chats are never sold while its Privacy Policy says identifiers may be, Google Play says your data cannot be deleted, its Terms ban the 18+ mode it sells, and its lawsuit against Apple was dropped in June. Read from its own documents.

Botify AI is a real, paid app from a named US company, Ex-Human, Inc. of Boulder, Colorado, and for an adult who keeps personal details out of the chat it is safe to pay for in the ordinary sense: the card goes through a mainstream processor or Google Play, and the app delivers the chats it sells. It is not private, and its own documents disagree with each other. The checkout says your chats are "never sold or shared", the Privacy Policy says Ex-Human may sell identifiers and browsing activity, and the Google Play form says your data cannot be deleted.
Everything below comes from first-party sources checked on October 2, 2026: Botify's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, the text inside its web app, the prices its own payments API returns to a US visitor, its Google Play listing and data safety form, and the federal court docket for Ex-Human's lawsuit against Apple. The pages that usually answer this question are tool directories, a domain scanner and a review of a different company called Botify. This one is written for the adult deciding whether Botify Ultra is worth a card. If you only want the full price table, our Botify AI app review with every plan annualised has it.
Is Botify AI safe to use?
For an adult, yes in the sense that matters for your wallet. Botify is not a scam. Its Terms, Privacy Policy and Play listing all name Ex-Human as the operator, the Android app was updated on September 30, 2026, and Google Play counts more than two million installs with a 3.8 rating. Web payments run through a mainstream card processor, so Botify never holds your card number.
The risks sit in four places: what the company says about selling your data, whether you can actually delete it, the gap between what the checkout sells and what the Terms allow, and the fact that nobody checks your age. None of those will empty your bank account. All four matter if you are about to spend evenings typing personal things into a chat window.
Does Botify AI sell your data?
Its checkout says no and its Privacy Policy says it may. That contradiction is the most important thing on this page, because both documents come from the same company and sit on the same website.
| Source, all published by Ex-Human | What it says about your data |
|---|---|
| Checkout FAQ in the web app | "100%. Everything you share is encrypted and never sold or shared." |
| Privacy Policy | "We may sell and may have sold in the last twelve (12) months" identifiers, commercial information and internet activity; information may go to "business partners" for promotions |
| Google Play data safety form | App interactions and crash logs shared for analytics; user IDs and device IDs used for advertising or marketing |
| Google Play data safety form | "Data can't be deleted" |
Read together, the honest summary is this: what you type is probably not packaged and sold as a transcript, but the identifiers that tie your account and device to your activity can be, and the company has reserved the right to have done so in the past year. The policy never mentions chats, conversations or AI training at all, so it neither confirms nor rules out what happens to the words themselves. We found the same kind of gap between store form and signed policy when we checked Dippy's "no data collected" declaration, and it is common across this category.
Can you delete your Botify account and chats?
Yes on the web, despite what Google Play says. Botify's web app has a delete account button that warns "All your data including chats history and created bots will be lost", and the Privacy Policy says you can request deletion from your account settings. The Play data safety form says the opposite: "Data can't be deleted" and "The developer doesn't provide a way for you to request that your data be deleted."
Trust the button, but know its limits. The Privacy Policy keeps data "only for as long as is necessary", with no fixed period, and lists the usual exceptions. Deleting the account also does nothing to a subscription you bought through Google Play, so cancel there first. And because the policy is silent on training, there is no way to know whether anything you wrote has already gone into a model.
Is Botify AI NSFW?
Its checkout sells adult features and its Terms prohibit them. The web paywall answers "How do I unlock NSFW/spicy mode?" with "You can enable 18+ mode inside Settings", and the paid feature list includes erotic role play and 18+ photos and videos. The Terms on the same site say the Service "is not intended to operate as an adult or pornographic service", list "A platform for explicit adult content" among the things it is not, and forbid "Sexually explicit or pornographic content."
For a buyer that gap is a real risk, not a technicality. A company that writes a rule and then sells the thing the rule forbids can enforce the rule whenever it chooses, and your account is the thing it would enforce it against. If adult chat is the reason you are paying, you are paying for a feature the contract says you may not use.
Why is Botify AI not on the App Store anymore?
Because Apple terminated Ex-Human's developer account on March 13, 2026, after a notice citing "dishonest or fraudulent activity". That comes from Ex-Human's own complaint, filed in the Northern District of California on March 31, 2026. Apple moved to dismiss on May 14. On June 5, 2026 a notice of voluntary dismissal was filed, and the docket shows the case closed on June 8 with no ruling for Ex-Human.
The iPhone app has not come back. On October 2, 2026, searching the US App Store for Botify returned only unrelated apps from other sellers trading on the name, so a Botify app on an iPhone today is not Ex-Human's. If you are an iPhone user, the web version at botify.ai is the only real one.
Is Botify AI safe for kids?
No. Botify's own rules are inconsistent about age, and nothing enforces them. The Terms say "You represent that you are over the age of 18." The Privacy Policy draws the line at 13 and even describes how it handles selling data of users aged 13 to 16 who opt in. Google Play rates the app Mature 17+. The web app's only 18+ checkbox is switched on for a sister brand, not for Botify, so a new Botify visitor is never asked their age.
Three documents with three different age lines is a sign that nobody owns the question. Companies operating in a dozen US states with new companion chatbot laws increasingly need software that helps them keep track of which obligations apply and what satisfies each one, and Botify's paperwork shows what happens without it. For a parent, the practical answer is the same as for every app in this category: use the phone's own age controls, and do not rely on the app's.
What does Botify AI cost?
Between $79.99 and $359.88 a year before extras, according to the prices Botify's own payments API returned to a US visitor on October 2, 2026. Ultra is $19.99 a month or $79.99 a year. Creative is $29.99 a month or $149.99 a year. Photos, videos and messages past your allowance are paid in energy, sold at $9.99 for 500, $34.99 for 2,500 and $99.99 for 10,000.
| Plan | Charge | Over 12 months |
|---|---|---|
| Ultra, monthly | $19.99 a month | $239.88 |
| Ultra, yearly | $79.99 a year | $79.99 |
| Creative, monthly | $29.99 a month | $359.88 |
| Creative, yearly | $149.99 a year | $149.99 |
Monthly Ultra costs three times as much over a year as yearly Ultra for the same plan, so if you subscribe, take the yearly price. For how these numbers compare with the rest of the category, see how much an AI girlfriend really costs.
Can you get a refund from Botify AI?
Rarely. The Terms say "paid Subscription fees are non-refundable" except where the law requires, and that refunds "may be considered by the Company on a case-by-case basis and granted at the sole discretion of the Company." Subscriptions renew "under the exact same conditions unless You cancel", and a free trial charges you automatically on its last day. Purchases made in the Android app go to Google Play for refunds.
There is one point in the buyer's favor. Botify's Terms contain no arbitration clause and no class action waiver; disputes start with an informal complaint to the company, under California law, and you keep ordinary access to the courts. That is more than most companion apps leave you.
Should you pay for Botify AI?
Pay for it if you want a large library of fandom, celebrity and anime characters plus generated photos and videos, you are comfortable with the privacy terms above, and you take the yearly price. Keep your real name, employer and location out of every chat, and do not count on adult features the Terms forbid. Our guide to the most private AI companion apps ranks the alternatives on exactly these points.
It is the wrong purchase if what you want is one partner who remembers your life. A catalogue of characters is built for variety, and an energy meter turns every photo into a small charge. Amorous.ai is built the other way: one devoted girlfriend or boyfriend with long term memory, no ads, no energy packs and no weekly billing, on flat plans from $9 a month billed yearly. You can see every plan and start today, or talk to one of them in the chat above first.
