Is Dippy AI Safe? What the Dippy App Charges and Shares

Dippy is a real app from Impel Intelligence, Inc. Its Google Play form says it collects no data while its Privacy Notice lists your chats and precise location, its Terms say chats train its models with no opt out, and Dippy Super runs from $99 to $363.48 a year. Read from its own documents.

Dippy is a real app from a US company, Impel Intelligence, Inc., and for an adult who keeps personal details out of the chat it is safe to pay for in the ordinary sense: the card goes to Apple or Google, and the app delivers the chats it sells. It is not private, and its own disclosures contradict each other. Its Google Play declaration says it collects no data at all, while its Privacy Notice lists your chats and precise location, its Terms say your conversations train its models with no opt out, and Apple's label says it tracks you for advertising.

Everything below comes from first-party sources checked on October 1, 2026: Dippy's Terms of Service and Privacy Notice (both dated July 8, 2024), the US App Store listing with its in-app purchase list and privacy label, the Google Play listing and its data safety form, and Dippy's own posts. Most pages that come up for this question are URL scanners and directories. This one is for the adult deciding whether Dippy Super is worth a card. If you only want the prices, our Dippy AI app review with Dippy Super pricing has every item annualised.

Is Dippy AI safe to use?

For an adult, yes in the sense that matters for your wallet. It is not a scam and it is actively maintained: version 2.0.9 shipped on August 27, 2026, the US App Store shows 2,389 ratings averaging 4.3, and Google Play counts more than two million installs. Every purchase runs through Apple or Google, so your card details never reach Dippy, and a disputed charge goes through the store's process rather than a small company's inbox.

The risks sit in three places. What you write is training data. The company's public disclosures disagree about what it collects. And the rules on what you may write are not published anywhere you can read them. None of those will empty your bank account, but all three matter if you are about to spend evenings typing personal things into it.

What data does Dippy AI collect?

It depends on which Dippy document you read, and that is the most important finding on this page. The Google Play data safety form, which the developer fills in itself, says: "No data collected. The developer says this app doesn't collect user data" and "No data shared with third parties." The Privacy Notice, signed by the same company, says the opposite.

Source, all published by Dippy's developerWhat it says about your data
Google Play data safety formCollects no data and shares no data with other companies
US App Store privacy labelDevice ID and advertising data are "Used to Track You"; user ID linked to you for third party advertising
Privacy NoticeCollects what you write to its companions, your email, your IP address and "precise geo-location information"; chat communications "may be disclosed to service providers"
Both store listingsThe app contains advertising

An app that shows ads, ships an advertising identifier to Apple's tracking label and keeps your chat history on a server is collecting data. The Play form is simply wrong, and it has stayed wrong while the Android app shipped updates as recently as September 21, 2026. If you want to know how a store label can drift this far from a signed policy, the same pattern turned up when we read CHAI's ad partner declarations and PolyBuzz's location sharing, but Dippy is the first app we have checked where the form claims nothing at all.

Precise location deserves a moment of its own. A companion app has no feature that needs to know which building you are in. Combined with an email address and a device advertising ID, it is enough to tie an account to a real person, which is exactly how people search sites assemble their listings. If that worries you, it is worth paying a service to get your details removed from the data brokers that already list them, and denying Dippy location permission on your phone either way.

Does Dippy AI use your chats to train AI?

Yes, and there is no switch. The Terms of Service say, under a heading telling you what "you recognize": "We will use the content of your conversations to improve our Services. We will use the content of your conversations in a form that is de-identified and/or aggregated as well as other metadata to train and hone our models, enhance our Services, and develop new products and services." The Privacy Notice lists "training AI models" among the purposes of processing.

Neither document offers an opt out, by setting or by email. The licence you grant over your content is broad as well: worldwide, royalty free, transferable and sublicensable, covering copying, modification and public display "in connection with operating, providing, improving and training the Services and to develop new products and services."

There is a history here worth knowing. Impel Intelligence ran Bittensor subnet 11, launched in 2024 as Dippy Roleplay, to crowdsource open roleplay models for the app, and its own published roadmap listed evaluation datasets "contributed by Dippy's mobile app users." Public subnet trackers now show a different project on that subnet, so this may be history rather than current practice, but the Privacy Notice never mentions it either way. The app itself sells no crypto; its coins are an ordinary Apple purchase.

Is Dippy AI free, and what does Dippy Super cost?

Chat is free with ads, and the App Store description goes further, promising "Unlimited Free Messages" and conversations "completely free of charge, with no worries about time limits or message caps." The same listing carries ten paid items. Dippy Super is listed at $6.99 a week, at $9.99 and $12.99 a month and at $99.00 and $119.99 a year, with a $4.99 monthly Ads Free tier and 100 coins for $3.49.

Annualise them and the spread is hard to ignore. The weekly plan comes to $363.48 a year, the monthly plans $119.88 or $155.88, and the cheapest yearly plan $99.00, for a product with the same name. Dippy publishes no pricing page that explains which price you will be offered or what Super actually unlocks. If you do subscribe, look for the yearly option and never take the weekly one. For how that compares with the rest of the category, see how much an AI girlfriend really costs.

One more thing to read before paying. Dippy's Terms still say it "currently offer[s] a complimentary membership" and contain no clause on subscriptions, auto renewal, paid plan cancellation or refunds. In practice that means every refund question goes to Apple or Google under their rules. It also means the document you agree to does not describe the product you are buying.

Who owns Dippy AI?

Impel Intelligence, Inc., named as the operator in the Terms and as the controller in the Privacy Notice, and listed as the seller on both app stores. Neither policy gives a street address or a state of incorporation. The governing law clause reads "the laws of the State of [California]" with the template brackets still in place, the courts clause says "[Northern District of California]", and a reference to the company's copyright policy points to "[insert link]". Archived copies show those placeholders have been live since at least June 2026. The App Store support link goes to Dippy's account on X rather than a help center.

None of that makes the company dishonest. It does tell you how much care went into the documents that govern your data, and that matters when the documents are all you have.

Is Dippy AI NSFW, and what are the rules?

The honest answer is that nobody outside the company can say, because the rules are not published. The Terms incorporate an Acceptable Use Policy at dippy.ai/acceptableuse "which is hereby incorporated herein." That address renders a Not found page, and an archived capture from December 2025 is the same empty shell. The App Store rates Dippy 18+ with infrequent mature or suggestive themes; Google Play rates it Mature 17+ and lists sexual content and nudity among its descriptors. Dippy's X account said in August 2025 that its moderation "bans the creation of any illegal/underage/explicit character."

For an adult buyer, the practical problem is enforcement without a rulebook. If your account is restricted for breaking a policy that does not load, there is no text to point to in an appeal.

Is Dippy AI safe for kids?

No, and Dippy says so itself. The Terms require users to be 18 or older; the Privacy Notice uses a lower line and says the service is not directed to children under 16. Dippy says app store age ratings keep minors out and that the website asks for an age after five messages. Parents should know that the public catalogue leans young: on October 1, 2026 the homepage featured a party roleplay built on My Hero Academia's Class 1-A, a high school class, with 620,400 chats. If you are a parent, use the app store's age controls rather than relying on the app's own gate.

Can you delete your Dippy account and your chats?

You can ask, and you should read the limits first. The Terms say you cancel your account "by sending us an email at support@dippy.ai", not from a button in the app, and that "some of your User Content (such as questions, historic conversations, posts or comments you make) may not be completely removed and copies of your User Content may continue to exist on the Services." The Privacy Notice keeps data for as long as you use the service or as long as it needs to for disputes, audits and "legitimate business purposes", with no fixed period. And anything already used for training stays in the model.

Cancel any Dippy Super subscription in the App Store or Google Play first, because closing the Dippy account does not stop the store from billing you.

Should you pay for Dippy Super?

Pay for it if you want a huge, free-flowing library of fandom characters and image generation, you are comfortable with your writing training the company's models, and you can find the $99.00 yearly price. Turn off location access, keep real names and places out of the chat, and skip the weekly plan entirely. Our guide to the most private AI companion apps ranks the alternatives on exactly these points.

It is the wrong purchase if what you want is one partner who remembers your life. A roster of thousands of characters is built for novelty, not continuity, and nothing you share accumulates. That is the gap Amorous.ai fills: one devoted girlfriend or boyfriend with long term memory, no ads, no coins and no weekly billing, on flat plans from $9 a month billed yearly. You can see every plan and start today, or talk to one of them in the chat above first.
