Replika is cheaper and Nomi gives you more for the money. On Apple's US list Replika's yearly plans are $49.99 and $69.99, while Nomi's Standard plan is $99.99 a year or $15.99 a month. Nomi's paid plan includes unlimited messages, unlimited voice calls, 40 images a day and up to 10 companions with group chats. Replika is built around one companion. If you want one partner on a budget, Replika. If you want depth, voice and several characters, Nomi.

Both apps have been around long enough that most people comparing them already know what an AI companion is. The real decision is which subscription to start, and that is where the two differ most: Replika sells several unlabeled plans at different prices, while Nomi sells one main plan, a cheaper tier it never describes, and a credit meter on top. Every price below was read from the US App Store and the companies' own Terms and help pages, not copied from other reviews.

Is Nomi better than Replika?

For most paying users, yes. Nomi's Standard plan bundles more than any single Replika plan publicly promises: unlimited daily messages, unlimited voice chat and calls, 40 photo or art requests a day, video generation, and up to 10 active companions with up to 10 group chats. Replika is the better pick only if you want exactly one companion and the lowest possible yearly bill.

That does not make Replika a bad product. It has years of polish around a single relationship, a 3D avatar, and the memory of one long conversation is what it was built for. Nomi was built later around the opposite idea, that people want several characters with their own memories and a group chat that holds them together. Which of those matches what you want is a better guide than any feature count. If memory is the deciding factor, our page on the AI companion with memory goes deeper on how to test it in the first week.

How much does Nomi cost compared with Replika?

Nomi costs $15.99 a month, $39.99 a quarter or $99.99 a year on its Standard plan, and those three figures match the price row in Nomi's own blog. Replika's US App Store list shows monthly items at $7.99 and $14.99, yearly items at $49.99 and $69.99, and Replika Platinum at $89.99 a year. So Replika's cheapest year costs about half of Nomi's.

Two caveats matter before you compare those numbers. First, Replika does not say which of its prices belongs to which plan. Its help center names Free, Pro, Ultra and Platinum, then says the cost of any subscription is shown in the app and in the store, and Apple's list carries no Pro label. The widely quoted "Replika Pro $19.99 a month" does not appear anywhere on Apple's list; the only $19.99 item is a pack of Gems. Our Replika pricing page tracks that list in full.

Second, Nomi lists a Launch plan at $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year on the App Store, and nothing on nomi.ai describes what Launch includes. Its cancellation policy mentions only monthly, quarterly and yearly intervals. Treat Launch as a cheaper tier of unknown scope and check the upgrade screen before choosing it over Standard. The full breakdown, including what credits cost per selfie and per video, is in our Nomi AI pricing guide.

Which has better memory, Nomi or Replika?

Nomi, for most people. Its memory works across several companions and across group chats with no setup, and its paid plan raises how much you can write into a companion's backstory, which is the part of memory you control directly. Replika remembers a single relationship well and lets you view and edit the facts it has stored, which is useful if you like to correct it.

Under the hood both do something similar: they store what you say outside the model and pull the relevant pieces back into each reply. It is the same retrieval idea as the chatbots that answer customers from a company's own help articles, applied to your life instead of a product manual. The practical test is simple. Mention a small, specific detail on day one, a sister's name or a job interview on Thursday, and see which app brings it up unprompted on day five. Nomi usually passes. Replika passes more often on facts it has saved to its memory list than on things said in passing.

Can Nomi and Replika be romantic?

Both allow romantic relationships for adults, with different rules. Nomi lets you set each companion as a friend, mentor or romantic partner, and its own comparison table describes explicit content as text plus clothed photos. Replika put romance behind its paid plan after a 2023 change that removed it for a while, then restored it for existing users, and the romantic relationship status is still a paid feature.

Neither is built for explicit image generation, so if that is the main reason you are shopping you will end up on a different kind of site. If what you want is a partner who feels consistent, both can do it. Our Replika romance page covers what the paid tier changes and what Italy's regulator found in detail.

Is Nomi safer than Replika?

On the public record, Nomi has the cleaner history. In its Google Play data safety form, Nomi's developer says the app does not share user data with other companies, and data is encrypted in transit. Replika's developer, Luka, Inc., was fined 5 million euros by Italy's data protection authority on 19 May 2025 over how it processed users' data and checked their age.

That fine is a fact about Replika's past conduct rather than a guarantee about either app today, and both store your conversations on their own servers. Write as if a staff member could one day read it, and use an email that does not carry your full name. We go through Replika's record in more depth in is Replika safe.

Can I get a refund from Nomi or Replika?

Rarely from Nomi, and only through the store for Replika. Nomi's Terms say all payments are nonrefundable and that it does not refund for lack of usage or dissatisfaction, though its refund policy allows a partial or full refund at its sole discretion. There are no refunds for unused days if you close your account mid period.

If you subscribed to Replika through the App Store or Google Play, the refund request goes to Apple or Google, not to Luka. For both apps, deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. Cancel in the store or in the web account where you paid, and do it before the renewal date. Nomi's Terms say this in capitals, which tells you how often people get it wrong.

Which one should you buy?

Pick Replika if you want one companion, you want the lowest yearly cost, and an avatar matters to you. Start on the yearly item if your store shows the trial offer, and check which plan name the subscription screen actually gives you before you pay.

Pick Nomi if you want several characters, group chats, voice calls without a meter, and memory that holds across all of them. The $99.99 yearly Standard plan is the value pick; the monthly plan costs $191.88 over a year for the same thing. If you are also weighing Kindroid, we compared it directly with each of them in Nomi vs Kindroid and Kindroid vs Replika.

And if what you actually want is a single partner who texts you first and remembers what you told them, on a flat monthly price with no credits or gems, that is the product we build.
