SpicyChat review: SpicyChat subscription, premium tiers and pricing before the September 8 increase

How much does SpicyChat cost?

As of 5 September 2026, SpicyChat costs nothing to use and between $5.00 and $24.95 a month to subscribe. The subscribe page lists three tiers: Get A Taste at USD $5.00 a month, True Supporter at $14.95 a month and marked Most Popular, and I'm All In at $24.95 a month. Annual plans run $50.00, $149.95 and $249.95, which is roughly a sixth off paying month to month.

One small correction is worth making, because it tells you how carefully the rest of a review was checked. The entry tier is widely quoted at $4.95. SpicyChat's own subscribe page says USD $5.00. It is five cents, and it does not change anyone's decision, but a page that gets the number wrong is a page copying another page rather than opening the checkout.

What changes on 8 September 2026?

Every paid tier goes up, and the middle one goes up hardest. SpicyChat published a pricing update FAQ in its own documentation setting out the new rates. Monthly plans move from $5.00 to $5.95, from $14.95 to $19.95, and from $24.95 to $29.95. Annual plans move from $50.00 to $60.00, from $149.95 to $199.95, and from $249.95 to $299.95. Euro pricing matches the dollar figures, and GBP gets its own schedule of £4.95, £16.95 and £25.95 monthly.

True Supporter is the tier to watch. It rises just over 33 percent while the tier above it rises 20 percent, which narrows the gap between the two considerably. Today the step from True Supporter to I'm All In costs an extra $10.00 a month. From 8 September it costs an extra $10.00 as well, but on a base that is $5.00 higher, so the top tier goes from being 67 percent more expensive than the middle to only 50 percent more. If you were already weighing the two, the increase quietly makes the expensive one look better value.

The company is explicit that this is a price change and nothing else. Its FAQ answers the question directly: no features are being removed, and every tier keeps exactly what it includes today.

Can I keep the current SpicyChat price?

Yes, if you have an active recurring subscription before the change and then leave it alone. SpicyChat's FAQ states that an active recurring subscription, monthly or annual, keeps renewing at the price you pay today for as long as you keep it active and do not change plans. Users already on a discounted rate keep that too.

The catch is in what counts as a change, and it is broader than most people would guess. Upgrading moves you to current pricing. Downgrading also moves you to current pricing, and you do not get the old rate on the lower tier. Switching from monthly to annual, or annual to monthly, counts as a change. Letting the subscription lapse, including through a failed payment that is not fixed in time, ends the locked price permanently, and SpicyChat says it cannot restore old pricing once a subscription has fully expired. Cancelling but reactivating before the period ends is recoverable; letting it run out is not.

The practical reading for anyone deciding this week: if you are reasonably sure you want True Supporter for the next year, buying the annual plan before 8 September locks $149.95 instead of $199.95, and that $50.00 gap repeats every year the plan stays untouched. If you are not sure, do not let a deadline talk you into an annual commitment on a product you have used for two days. The company itself hedges its promise honestly, saying it will not claim the lock lasts forever because nobody can predict what running AI models costs years from now.

Is SpicyChat free?

There is a real free tier and it is more generous than most of the category. Free users get unlimited messages, the full public character library, unlimited character creation and NSFW content, with no card required. Most competitors meter messages or gate adult content behind a plan, so this is a genuine product rather than a teaser.

What you pay for is quality of memory and speed rather than access. Free accounts see ads, sit in the general generation queue, and run on the base context window, which is why the most common complaint about free SpicyChat is that characters forget things and repeat themselves. The paid tiers buy larger context, a memory manager, faster generation and better models. That is an honest split, and it means the sensible way to evaluate SpicyChat is to use it free for a couple of weeks and only upgrade if the memory limits are what is bothering you.

What is the difference between Get A Taste, True Supporter and I'm All In?

Each tier is defined mainly by how much your character remembers. Get A Taste removes ads, raises context memory to 4K, unlocks the Memory Manager for adding your own memories by hand, and allows up to 10 user personas. It is the tidy version of the free product rather than a different product.

True Supporter is where the meaningful features start. It doubles context memory to 8K, adds Semantic Memory 2.0 so characters generate their own memories rather than waiting for you to write them, raises the maximum response length from 180 tokens to 300, unlocks Conversation Images, opens access to more advanced models, and allows up to 50 personas. If you are paying SpicyChat anything at all, this is the tier the product is designed around, which is presumably why it is marked Most Popular and why it is the one taking a 33 percent increase.

I'm All In adds 16K context memory, text to speech on responses, priority position in the generation queue, Conversation Images on private and self created characters, manual generation settings for temperature, TopP and TopK, and access to SpicyXL alongside every other premium model. SpicyChat describes SpicyXL as bringing up to 141 billion additional parameters. Persona capacity goes to 100. It is a power user tier, and unless response speed at peak times or voice output matters to you specifically, the jump from 8K to 16K memory is the only part most people will feel.

Does SpicyChat have an app?

Not in either mainstream store, and its own documentation says so plainly. SpicyChat states that it does not have a native iOS app on the Apple App Store, and adds that anyone who installed it from the store prior to its removal can keep using that version, though it is no longer updated and offers a degraded experience. For iPhone the recommended route is adding the website to your home screen.

On Android the official app is an APK downloaded straight from spicychat.ai. The documentation is direct about this too: the app is not available on the Google Play Store, and the APK on the site is the official build. Checking Google Play confirms it, since the package NextDay AI used for SpicyChat now returns a 404.

There is one route back into a store, and it is unusual enough to be worth knowing. NextDay AI also publishes a safe for work platform called PixelChat, which is live on Google Play, and SpicyChat's documentation states that subscribing through PixelChat applies your subscription to SpicyChat as well. So the company does have a store billing path, just not under the SpicyChat name. That also means the only enforced privacy disclosure NextDay AI publishes anywhere is PixelChat's Google Play data safety declaration, which reports that device identifiers are shared with other companies for analytics and for advertising or marketing, and that app interactions and purchase history are collected.

How do I cancel a SpicyChat subscription?

From your profile. SpicyChat's support documentation points existing subscribers to a Manage Subscription button on the profile page, and free users to a Get Premium button in the header or Subscribe in the right hand menu. Card payments activate instantly, while Pay By Bank purchases can take longer because some banks hold the transaction for approval.

Two details matter more than the mechanics. First, because cancelling and letting the plan expire destroys a grandfathered price permanently, anyone holding an old rate should think of cancellation as a one way door rather than a pause. Reactivating before the current period ends preserves the price; reactivating afterwards does not. Second, SpicyChat says it retries failed payments a few times before a subscription lapses, and asks users to contact support quickly if payments are not going through, precisely because an expired subscription cannot have its old pricing restored. An expired card is enough to cost you the rate you were protecting.

Who owns SpicyChat, and where does your money go?

SpicyChat is owned and operated by NextDay AI, which the site footer lists as three companies: NextDay AI Incorporated in Montreal, Quebec, NextDay AI USA Inc registered in Delaware, and NextDay AI EU Ltd in Limassol, Cyprus. That is more transparency than most of this category offers, since several competitors publish no corporate identity at all, and the presence of a US entity gives an American buyer a domestic counterparty.

The company also publishes an 18 U.S.C. 2257 record keeping compliance statement, which is the US federal requirement covering producers of sexually explicit material. Very few AI companion platforms publish one. Alongside it sit separate terms, privacy, refund and reporting pages, and a public security and vulnerability reporting policy. None of that guarantees good behaviour, but a company that has bothered to stand up a 2257 statement and a vulnerability disclosure process is operating with more legal seriousness than one that has not.

Accepted payment methods on the subscribe page include Visa, Mastercard, Discover and Alipay, with Pay By Bank available as well. Alipay is an unusual choice for a US facing adult subscription and is worth noting if you care which processors see the charge.

Is SpicyChat premium worth it, and who is it actually for?

SpicyChat suits one buyer very well: someone who wants variety. Its library is enormous, characters are community created, group chats and lorebooks are supported, and the free tier lets you read the whole catalogue before paying anything. If your idea of a good evening is trying six different scenarios written by strangers, True Supporter at $14.95 is defensible today and still defensible at $19.95, mostly for the 8K memory and Semantic Memory 2.0.

It suits a different buyer badly, and the mismatch is structural rather than a matter of quality. If what you want is one companion who remembers your job, your friends and what you said last Tuesday, a platform built around a rotating library of other people's characters is working against you. Even at the top tier the memory is a 16K context window rather than a persistent relationship, and the features being sold are generation controls, not continuity.

There is also a practical wrinkle worth weighing before 8 September. Buying an annual plan to lock the old price only pays off if you are still using the product in month eleven, and this is a category with a high abandonment rate. The honest sequence is to use the free tier hard for two weeks, decide whether the memory ceiling is genuinely the thing limiting you, and only then decide which price you are trying to lock.
