Is Emochi AI Safe? What the Emochi App Charges and Shares

Emochi is safe to pay for in the ordinary sense, but it is now run by two companies: FlowGPT for the website and Android, and a Singapore company registered in March 2026 for the iPhone app. Both privacy policies still contain unfilled template placeholders, and Plus costs 30 percent more on iPhone than on the web.

Emochi is a real, popular app, and for an adult who keeps personal details out of the chat it is safe in the ordinary sense: your card goes through Apple, Google or Stripe, not through a stranger. The risks are in the paperwork. Emochi is now run by two different companies, one for the website and Android and another for the iPhone app, and both of their privacy policies still contain unfilled template placeholders. The iPhone version also costs 30 percent more.

Everything below comes from first-party sources checked on September 28, 2026: Emochi's Terms, EULA and web privacy policy, the iPhone app's separate privacy policy, the US App Store listing and privacy label, the Google Play listing and data safety form, the web checkout, and archived copies of the old App Store page. Most pages answering this question are written for worried parents. This one is written for the adult deciding whether to pay.

Is Emochi AI safe to use?

For an adult, broadly yes, with three caveats you should know before you subscribe. First, the brand has split: the website emochi.com, the Android app and the Terms belong to FlowGPT, a California company whose Terms and Google Play listing give an Oakland apartment as its address, while the iPhone app "EMOCHI World: AI Story Chat" is sold by MESORA PTE. LTD., a Singapore company. Singapore's company registry shows Mesora was registered on March 31, 2026, six days after Apple's release date for the app.

Second, the two operators disclose different things, and neither discloses everything (more on that below). Third, the rules on content, age and governing law disagree between documents. None of that means Emochi will misuse your card. It does mean you should read which company you are actually paying, because it changes the price, the policy and the refund route.

Why was Emochi removed from the App Store?

The original iPhone app, "Emochi: Unlimited Chat with AI" (id 6476081894, sold by FlowGPT Co. with about 17,000 ratings), no longer exists: Apple's lookup returns nothing for it in any country we tried. Archived copies show it was live until January 13, 2026 and gone by February 24, 2026. Apple published no reason, and neither did Emochi, so any site claiming to know why is guessing.

What replaced it is the Mesora listing (id 6758488675), which the emochi.com website now links to as its iPhone app and which shares subscription state with the website. The new listing has 9,001 US ratings at 4.67, an 18+ age rating, and a description promising that "All content is strictly reviewed and limited to healthy, positive scenarios", on the same page that declares sexual content and mature themes.

How much does Emochi cost?

Emochi Plus costs $9.99 a month on the website and $12.99 a month in the iPhone app, and the top tier costs $16.99 a month on the web (Ultra) against $19.99 on iPhone (Pro). Buying on the web is the cheaper route every time, and the yearly web plans cut the cost further.

Pro-1 MonthiPhone$19.99$239.88

The gap is $36 a year on Plus alone. Apple also lists a second top tier item called "pro-1month" at $16.99, so check which one you are tapping. Web prices come from the plan data on emochi.com's own checkout; iPhone prices from the US App Store in-app purchase list.

What does Emochi Mochi cost per message?

Mochi is Emochi's credit currency, and the web checkout values 2,000 Mochi as "worth $20", so one Mochi is one cent. The site's own code prices each chat model per message: the everyday models are free for subscribers, while the four premium models cost 5 to 10 Mochi a message, roughly 5 to 10 cents. Ultra includes 2,000 Mochi a month, which covers about 200 messages on the top models before you buy more.

Emochi does not publish that per message table on a price page, so treat the figures as indicative and watch your balance for the first week. If you mostly use the free models, Plus is enough. If you want the best models all the time, the meter is the real cost of Emochi, not the subscription.

Is Emochi private?

Not in the way its marketing suggests. The iPhone operator's website says "Private by design. Your conversations stay yours. We never sell your data." The same company's privacy policy says it collects "chat communications, posted images or videos" and "recordings of your voice", may use them "to train artificial intelligence/machine learning models", and "may disclose personal information to advertising and analytics providers in connection with tailored advertising". Apple's label for the app lists location, identifiers and usage data as data used to track you.

The web policy from FlowGPT is gentler: it says Emochi does not sell personal data, but it also says chats may be used for "training models to improve our services", and it offers no opt out. Neither policy states how long your chats are kept beyond "as long as you have an open account". Treat everything you type as readable by the company and possibly used for training, and keep names, workplaces and photos of yourself out of it. We compare the whole category on exactly these questions in our best AI companion app for privacy guide.

What is missing from the Emochi privacy policy?

Several lines that were never filled in. The web policy at privacy.emochi.com says Emochi "may use anonymized and aggregated user data (including [] , [] , and [] ) to train and refine our models", with the three categories left as empty brackets, and its list of third party SDKs is simply "[]". The iPhone app's policy tells you to exercise your privacy rights by contacting "[YOUR SUPPORT URL] or [YOUR PRIVACY EMAIL]", template text nobody replaced.

Placeholders do not prove bad intent, but they show nobody has read these documents since they were generated, and a company that cannot tell you where to send a deletion request makes deletion harder than it should be. Businesses that handle this properly use software to keep track of which privacy obligations apply and whether each one is met, and a published policy with blank fields is exactly the gap that process exists to catch. The store disclosures have the same hole: neither Apple's label nor Google Play's data safety form declares chat or voice content at all, although the policies say both are collected.

Does Emochi allow NSFW content?

The documents and the product disagree. Emochi's Terms ban submissions that "contain sexually explicit content or pornography" or are "obscene, indecent" or "lewd". Yet emochi.com describes itself in its own page description as offering "uncensored chat", its web app carries a user NSFW toggle, and Google Play rates the app Mature 17+ for sexual themes. Some bots on the public homepage mix romance with family role tags. Expect explicit content to be possible in places and filtered in others, with no clear written rule about which.

What age do you have to be to use Emochi?

It depends which document you read. The web Terms and privacy policy set the floor at 16, and the Terms even allow younger users with a parent's permission. The iPhone operator's policy says the service is for adults only, meaning 18 and over. Apple rates the app 18+ and Google Play Mature 17+. For a parent that inconsistency is the headline. For an adult buyer it is another sign the two halves of Emochi were never reconciled.

Can you get a refund from Emochi?

On iPhone or Android, refunds go through the store: Emochi's Terms say refund requests "shall be handled solely by the applicable App Store", so use reportaproblem.apple.com or Google Play's order history. On the website it is murkier. Web subscriptions are billed by card through Stripe, but the Terms only describe billing through Google Pay or Apple Pay and never mention the web checkout, so there is no written refund route for a web purchase at all. Web subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, and the EULA does not even describe the quarterly plan the checkout sells.

If you buy on the web to save the 30 percent, keep your receipt email and cancel from your account settings well before the renewal date. For a web purchase, the dispute that actually works is the one you file with your card issuer. The Terms also send disputes to binding JAMS arbitration in California, with a 30 day window to opt out by written notice.

Should you pay for Emochi?

If you want a huge catalogue of community characters, including rougher content than most apps allow, Emochi is decent value on the web: Plus yearly at $99.99 is about $8.33 a month, and the free models cover most everyday chat. Pay on emochi.com rather than in the iPhone app, avoid the premium models unless you are happy to feed the Mochi meter, and keep personal details out of it.

If what you actually want is one partner who knows you, a catalogue app works against you. Each character is a fresh start, the best models are metered, and the privacy policies do not even finish their own sentences. That is the case Amorous is built for: one devoted companion who remembers your life and texts you first, with plans from $9 a month billed yearly and nothing metered on any plan. It is romantic rather than explicit, and the demo at the top of this page is free to try. If you are comparing other character apps, the same checks applied to another iPhone app with a privacy policy that skips your chats are in our ChaChat AI review, and whether Xoul AI is safe covers a catalogue app that charges more on iPhone too.
