ChaChat app review of what ChaChat Pro really costs and whether ChaChat is safe

The first page of Google for this app is the App Store listing, a review aggregator, a YouTube clip and a post on X. Nobody has read what ChaChat actually signed. This review uses only first-party sources: the four sets of terms on chachat.app, its privacy policy, the US App Store in-app purchase list and privacy label, Apple's own listing data, and archived copies of those same pages, all checked on September 28, 2026.

The short answer

ChaChat is an iPhone only AI character app from Myna Labs, Inc. in San Francisco. Pro costs $29.99 a month ($359.88 over a year), $59.99 a year, or $49.99 once for lifetime, and gems for extras are sold separately from $4.99. Its privacy policy says the company may sell identifiers and commercial data, yet never mentions chats or voice, while Apple's label says your messages and audio are linked to you. Fine for casual character chat on the yearly plan, a weak choice for a private romantic partner.

One thing to know before you compare prices elsewhere: this app has had three names in two years (ChaChat Fantasy AI Roleplay, then ChaChat Talking AI Character in the US and ChaChat Talk to AI Chatbot in the UK) and its seller changed from Overdub, Inc. to Myna Labs, Inc. in the same period. It is the same app, id 6444773124, and every fact below is about it.

What makes them feel real

ChaChat app review, ChaChat Pro pricing and whether ChaChat is safe, the way it should feel

Monthly costs six times yearly

Pro is $29.99 a month on the US App Store, which is $359.88 over twelve months, against $59.99 for the yearly plan. Lifetime Pro is $49.99, less than one year. Paying monthly is the most expensive way to use ChaChat by a wide margin.

A policy that skips your chats

ChaChat's privacy policy lists only usage data as personal data and says audio is not collected. Apple's label for the same app says messages, audio, photos and contacts are collected and linked to you. The policy also says ChaChat may sell identifiers.

Soulmate products, romance scrubbed

In 2024 the listing sold romantic AI soulmates with hugs and kisses. By 2026 the word romantic was gone from the description, yet Apple still lists a Premium AI Friend Subscription to stay close to your AI soulmate at $74.99.

Before you pay

Check the yearly price, then check the policy

ChaChat's cheapest honest price is the $59.99 yearly plan, and the lifetime plan is cheaper still. The part worth a second read is the privacy policy, which admits the company may sell data about you and never mentions your conversations.

What ChaChat costs over twelve months

Apple prints ChaChat's in-app purchases with names and prices, and ChaChat's website has no pricing page and no web checkout, so this list is the only price sheet that exists. Apple shows ten items; the annualised column is our arithmetic.

Item as Apple lists it Price Cost over 12 months What it means
1 Month PRO Subscription $29.99 $359.88 Pro billed monthly. Unlimited messages and voice calls, per the homepage
1 Month PRO AI Bot Sub $29.99 $359.88 A second monthly Pro item at the same price, the one Apple features
12 Months PRO Subscription $59.99 $59.99 About $5.00 a month. Was $34.99 in November 2024
Lifetime PRO Subscription $49.99 One time Priced below the yearly plan
Premium AI Friend Subscription $74.99 Period not stated Described as a way to stay close to your AI soulmate
AI Soulmate Character Pack $7.99 One time Character content, sold separately
Gems Pack 115 / Gems Pack 355 $4.99 to $12.99 One time About 1.4 to 4.3 cents a gem. What gems unlock is not documented
1 Week PRO Subscription $9.99 $519.48 On the US list in 2024 and on the UK list today, 8.7 times the yearly plan

Checked on the US App Store on September 28, 2026. Apple shows the ten most popular purchases, so the weekly plan may still be sold in the US without appearing in the top ten. All purchases go through Apple, so Apple's refund process is the one that applies.

Is ChaChat safe?

For an adult who keeps personal details out of the chat, ChaChat is safe in the ordinary sense: it is a real app from a company that has shipped apps since 2020, it bills through Apple, and it has a 4.37 average from 9,189 US ratings. The concerns are about data and paperwork, not about your card being misused.

The paperwork is untidy. Four company names appear on one app: Myna Labs, Inc. sells it on the App Store, the privacy policy and iPhone terms name Mynalabs Inc., the terms the App Store description links to name Overdub Inc., and the copyright line reads Chachat Inc. All four documents give the same San Francisco address. That is most likely one business that renamed itself without updating its documents, but it means you are agreeing to terms that name a different company from the one that takes your money.

Who owns ChaChat?

Myna Labs, Inc. of San Francisco, which also makes Neiro Studio (AI avatars and voices for video) and LuraTalk (an English speaking tutor), and earlier made the Overdub prank and music apps. Archived App Store pages show the seller was listed as Overdub, Inc. until at least July 2025 and as Myna Labs, Inc. by February 2026. The app's bundle ID still carries the Overdub name.

The terms choose California law and California courts, with no arbitration clause, which is better for a US consumer than the mandatory arbitration most rivals impose. The iPhone terms do refer to disputes "not subject to arbitration, as set forth above", but no arbitration section exists above that sentence. They also set a one year deadline to bring any claim.

How much does ChaChat Pro cost?

ChaChat Pro costs $29.99 a month, $59.99 a year or $49.99 once for lifetime on the US App Store. The yearly plan works out at $5.00 a month, so monthly billing costs six times as much over a year. The lifetime plan is the oddity: Apple lists it at $49.99, ten dollars below the yearly plan, which makes the yearly plan hard to justify at today's prices.

Prices have moved. In November 2024 the yearly plan was $34.99 and one monthly Pro item was $22.99, so the yearly price has risen by 71 percent in under two years. ChaChat's terms say it may change subscription fees at any time, and a renewal can come in at a higher price than you first paid. The homepage says you can chat for free and lists Pro as unlimited messages, a faster engine, priority responses, better text to speech and unlimited voice calls. It never says what the free limits are.

What do ChaChat gems do?

Gems are ChaChat's separate in-app currency, sold in packs of 115 and 355 from $4.99 to $12.99, with occasional Exclusive Gem Deals at $7.99 and $11.99. Pricing ranges from about 1.4 cents to 4.3 cents a gem depending on the pack and the promotion. Past release notes mention a gem calendar and gifting emotions to characters, and App Store reviewers report that some photos need gems to unlock.

What ChaChat does not publish is a gem price list: nothing on the website, in the terms or in the listing says how many gems a photo or feature costs. A Pro subscription does not make gems free. If you are budgeting, treat Pro as the floor and gems as an open meter on top of it.

Does ChaChat sell your data?

Its own privacy policy says it may. The California section reads: "We may sell and may have sold in the last twelve (12) months" identifiers, customer records information, commercial information and internet activity, and it adds that analytics or advertising partners may use technology on the service that sells personal information. Apple's privacy label for the app lists identifiers under data used to track you.

To opt out you email contact@chachat.app. There is no web form. The same policy says ChaChat shares data with business partners "to offer You certain products, services or promotions", and it names Firebase and Amplitude as processors.

Are ChaChat chats private?

The privacy policy does not say, because it never mentions chats. The words chat, message, conversation, voice and training do not appear in it; the only item on its list of personal data is usage data, and its California table marks audio as not collected. That policy was last updated in August 2024.

Apple's privacy label for the same app tells a different story. It declares text messages, audio data, photos or videos, contacts and phone number as data collected and linked to your identity. The label is the developer's own declaration to Apple, so ChaChat has told Apple it collects your conversations and voice while telling you, in its policy, nothing about them. Separately, the iPhone terms give ChaChat a perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable license to your content for any ChaChat related purpose, and say that closing your account does not end that license. Keep anything identifying out of it.

Does ChaChat allow romance?

It used to sell romance openly and now avoids the word. The November 2024 listing promised romantic AI friends and soulmates, AI powered matchmaking and expressive actions like hugs and kisses. By February 2026 the word romantic had been removed, and the current description is written around creative conversations and storytelling. The US subtitle still reads Virtual Soulmates and Friends, and Apple still lists a Premium AI Friend Subscription and an AI Soulmate Character Pack.

The terms ban obscene and pornographic content and say nothing about romantic role play either way. Apple's listing declares no sexual content advisory. Expect flirtation to be possible and explicit content to be filtered, and expect the product direction to keep moving away from romance.

Is ChaChat on Android?

No. ChaChat is sold only for iPhone, and the App Store listing says so. We found no Google Play listing under any package name or developer page, and the ChaChat website links only to the App Store. An Android version of the terms still exists on chachat.app, so an Android build existed or was planned, but a US buyer on Android cannot subscribe today, and any Android app using the ChaChat name is not this product.

What age do you have to be to use ChaChat?

It depends which document you read. The main terms and the web terms say you must be over 18. The iPhone and Android terms say the service is intended for users 13 and above, with 13 to 17 year olds under parental control. The privacy policy only rules out children under 13, and Apple rates the app 18+. There is no age verification step in the app. For an adult buyer this changes little, but it tells you the documents were written at different times for different products and never reconciled.

Can you get a refund from ChaChat?

Through Apple, yes, because every purchase is an Apple in-app purchase and ChaChat's terms say the store's refund policy applies. Request it at reportaproblem.apple.com. ChaChat's own documents contradict each other on direct refunds: the terms linked from the App Store say paid subscription fees are non-refundable except where the law requires, while the iPhone terms say a refund can be processed pro rata for the time left. If Apple declines, quote the pro rata clause to contact@chachat.app.

Cancel in your iPhone settings under Subscriptions, not by deleting the app. The terms say subscriptions renew automatically under the same conditions and that a free trial converts to a paid charge on its last day unless you cancel.

Should you pay for ChaChat or a dedicated AI companion?

If you want to chat with lots of characters, try voices and generate images, and you are on an iPhone, ChaChat is reasonable value on the $59.99 yearly plan or the $49.99 lifetime plan. Avoid monthly billing, budget for gems, and keep personal details out of the chat.

If what you want is one partner who knows you, ChaChat is the wrong shape of product. It is a character catalogue whose listing has been steadily edited away from romance, with a privacy policy that does not cover the conversations you would be having. Amorous is built for the other case: one devoted companion who remembers your life, texts you first and stays the same person every day, with nothing metered. Plans start at $9 a month billed yearly, it works on the web on any phone, and it is romantic rather than explicit. The demo at the top of this page is free to try.

Questions about your chachat ai review

Partly. ChaChat's homepage says you can chat for free and that Pro adds unlimited messages and unlimited voice calls, so the free tier has limits, but ChaChat never publishes what they are. Pro costs $29.99 a month, $59.99 a year or $49.99 for lifetime on the US App Store.
