Saylo AI app review on whether Saylo AI is safe and what Saylo pricing really costs
The first page of Google for Saylo is software directories, download sites and the app store listings themselves. Nobody has read what Saylo actually signed. This review uses only first-party sources: the Terms of Use on sayloai.com, the privacy policy the app stores link to, the different privacy policy on Saylo's website, the US App Store in-app purchase list and privacy label, the Google Play listing and data safety form, and Saylo's own user guide and Community Guidelines, all checked on September 27, 2026.

The short answer
Saylo is an AI character story app sold by X Original (Hong Kong) Limited, whose app ID, support email and servers all sit on the xverse.cn domain. On the US App Store it sells Plus at $9.99 a month, Pro at $19.99 a month, a Plus Quarterly Pass at $24.99 and diamond top-ups from $0.99 to $19.99, and its Terms say fees are non-refundable. Neither of its two privacy policies mentions chats, voice or photos, and its content rules ban even suggestive romance. It is fine for story role play, a weak buy for a private romantic partner.
One warning before you search further: saylo.ai is not Saylo's website. The real app lives at sayloai.com, and at least seven unrelated App Store apps share the Saylo name, including a calorie counter called Saylo AI from an Australian seller. Every fact below is about the app sold by X Original (Hong Kong) Limited.
What makes them feel real
Saylo AI app review, Saylo pricing and whether Saylo AI is safe, the way it should feel
Cheap monthly, dear as a pass
Plus is $9.99 a month on auto-renew, but the Plus 1-Month Pass sells the same month for $14.99. Pro is $19.99 a month, $239.88 a year. Diamonds for extra features are sold on top from $0.99.
Two privacy policies, no chats in either
The stores link a generator template created by xverse with an age floor of 13. The website has another with an age floor of 18. Neither mentions messages, voice calls, photos or AI training.
Romance tags, romance ban
Saylo's homepage tags characters romance and sexy, while its Community Guidelines prohibit explicit content and content with suggestive or implicit sexual undertones, and state that moderation decisions are final.

What Saylo AI costs over twelve months
Apple prints Saylo's in-app purchases with names and prices but no descriptions, and Saylo's own web pricing page shows nothing until you log in. The names and prices below are exactly as Apple lists them; the twelve month column is our arithmetic. Google Play shows only a range of $0.49 to $179.99 per item.
| Item as Apple lists it | Price | Cost over 12 months | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plus Monthly | $9.99 | $119.88 | The main membership. The Terms describe a 3 day trial that renews at this rate |
| Plus 1-Month Pass | $14.99 | $179.88 if bought monthly | The same month of Plus for $5 more, sold as a pass |
| Plus Quarterly Pass | $24.99 | $99.96 | About $8.33 a month, the cheapest Plus rate on the list |
| Pro Monthly Sub | $19.99 | $239.88 | The higher tier. Apple lists no yearly Pro plan |
| ads free monthly subscription | $2.99 | $35.88 | Removes ads only, separate from Plus |
| Saylo Top-up | $0.99 to $19.99 | One time | Diamonds, the in-app currency. Peek costs 20 diamonds each time |
| New User Top-Up | $0.99 | One time | A first purchase offer |
Saylo's user guide says members collect 40 diamonds a day and receive a first day bonus of 600, 1,800 or 7,200 diamonds on monthly, quarterly and annual cards, which suggests an annual card exists somewhere, but Apple's list of the first ten purchases does not show one. Subscriptions renew until cancelled in the App Store or Google Play, not in Saylo.
Is Saylo AI safe?
For an adult who keeps personal details out of the chat, Saylo is reasonably safe in the ordinary sense: it is a real app from a real company, it has been in both stores since May 2024, and nothing about it looks like malware. The risk is paperwork, not code. The documents that are supposed to tell you what happens to your conversations do not mention conversations at all, and the ones that do describe data sharing contradict each other.
On Google Play, Saylo declares that it shares no data with third parties. On the App Store, the same app declares usage data used to track you, and email, name, search history, browsing history, user ID and device ID linked to you and used for third-party advertising. The privacy policy the stores link to says only aggregated, anonymized data goes to outside services, and names Facebook and Google Analytics for Firebase. Three documents, three answers. Treat everything you type into Saylo as readable by the company and by its advertising partners.
Who owns Saylo AI?
Saylo is sold on both stores by X ORIGINAL(HONG KONG) LIMITED. Google Play lists its address as a factory building on King Fuk Street in Kowloon, Hong Kong, with a phone number carrying the +86 mainland China prefix, and a support email address on xverse.cn. The app's bundle ID is com.xverse.aistory, the privacy policy the stores link to says the app was created by xverse, and the web app's API, analytics and assets are all served from xverse.cn servers.
The Terms of Use name the provider only as X original, choose the laws of Singapore, and send any dispute to arbitration at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre. For a US buyer, that means a billing dispute is not something you can take to small claims court at home. The practical route is the refund request to Apple or Google, which the Terms point you to anyway.
How much does Saylo cost?
Plus costs $9.99 a month and Pro $19.99 a month on the US App Store, which is $119.88 and $239.88 over a year. The cheapest way to hold Plus is the Plus Quarterly Pass at $24.99, about $8.33 a month. The most expensive is the Plus 1-Month Pass at $14.99, which sells the same month as the monthly subscription for five dollars more. A separate ads free subscription costs $2.99 a month, and diamonds are sold in top-ups from $0.99 to $19.99.
The Terms describe a free 3 day trial for new users that renews into a monthly membership at $9.9 with payment deducted automatically. They also say subscription fees may change at any time. Diamonds matter because features are gated on them: the user guide says a Peek costs 20 diamonds each time, and membership adds 40 diamonds a day plus a 10 percent bonus on diamond purchases.
What do you get with Saylo VIP?
Saylo's own guide lays the free and paid tiers side by side. Free users get 1 memory slot, VIP gets 5. Free users can generate images 100 times, VIP 200 to 400 times. Free users can create up to 10 characters a week, VIP 30. Group chat with up to three characters is VIP only, although a free user can unlock it once by watching an ad, and VIP gets priority access when servers are queued.
The guide also describes voice calls with characters, AI video clips in five moods, the option to send photos, and a Create Memory tool for telling a character what to remember. It does not say which of these sit behind which tier. Its own FAQ is candid about memory: limited by the maximum capacity of the conversation, characters are sometimes forgetful, which is the complaint that matters most if you want one partner who knows your week.
What does the Saylo privacy policy say about your chats?
Nothing, in either version. The policy the App Store and Google Play link to is a free template from an app privacy policy generator, hosted on a document site that shows a sponsored VPN ad on the same page. It lists your IP address, the pages you visit, time spent in the app and your operating system. The version on sayloai.com is the same template with the contact changed. Neither mentions chats, messages, voice recordings, uploaded photos, characters, AI or model training, and neither says anything about selling data or US state privacy rights.
The gap is sharp because Saylo's own marketing invites exactly that data. Its guide tells you to send photos to share your life, and its FAQ says the characters are always there when you need a shoulder to cry on. Its Community Guidelines add that moderation combines human oversight with AI, which means people may read flagged content, something neither policy discloses. Deletion is by email request to Saylo support, answered in a reasonable time.
Is Saylo AI safe for kids?
Saylo does not verify age. There is no age gate or birthdate check in the web app, the Terms of Use set no minimum age at all, the store-linked privacy policy says the app does not address anyone under 13, and the website policy says under 18. Google Play rates it Mature 17+, and the App Store page shows 18+. For a parent, the answer is that a teenager can sign up with an email address and nothing more.
The content rules are strict on paper: the Community Guidelines ban explicit sexual content and anything with suggestive or implicit sexual undertones. But the homepage offers romance and sexy character tags, and characters are user generated, so what a teen meets depends on moderation that Saylo describes as final and does not publish numbers for.
Can you get a refund from Saylo?
Rarely. The Terms say fees are non-refundable except as required by law or stated in a refund policy, and no refund policy page exists on the site. They also say that for any subscription refund you must contact the app marketplace, and that Saylo is not responsible for refunds related to subscriptions. In practice that means Apple's or Google's refund request form, and cancellation in your store subscription settings rather than inside the app.
On Google Play, 31,869 of 71,585 ratings are one star, about 44.5 percent and the single largest bucket, for a 2.9 average. The App Store average is 3.9 from 1,268 ratings. Every visible iPhone update since October 2025 is labelled only bug fix, so you cannot tell from the release notes what changed.
Should you pay for Saylo or a dedicated AI companion?
If what you want is interactive stories with many characters, group scenes and a creative sandbox, Saylo is built for that, and the Plus Quarterly Pass at $24.99 is the sensible way to try it. Avoid the $14.99 one month pass, and cancel through the store before the trial renews if you are only testing.
If what you want is a romantic partner, Saylo works against you twice. Its rules ban suggestive romance outright, and its memory is capped at a handful of slots on a model its own FAQ calls forgetful. That is the case Amorous is built for: one companion, the same person every day, who remembers your life and writes to you first. Amorous costs $9 a month billed yearly on Sweetheart or $12 month to month, Devoted is $19 a month yearly with texts first, voice notes and deeper memory, and nothing is metered on any plan. It is romantic and affectionate rather than explicit, and the demo at the top of this page is the same companion you would be paying for.
